Nextalk supports a BYO modem/router.. It is important to check that your modem/router supports the relevant connection type in the table below, depending on the ADSL/NBN technology available at your property. If you need any assistance, please get in touch with our technical support team.
NBN Technology | Modem Requirement | Authentication |
---|---|---|
FTTP | Router/WAN Connection | PPPoE |
Fixed Wireless | Router/WAN Connection | PPPoE |
HFC | Router/WAN Connection | PPPoE |
FTTN/FTTB | VDSL Modem Required | PPPoE |
When signing up for ADSL, using your own modem should generally be acceptable so long as it is unlocked and supports ADSL2+ and PPPoE.
Our technical team will attempt to provide assistance in the configuration of your BYO device. Due to a vast range of devices available in the market we may not be able to support every make and model. For this reason we recommend you have a good understanding of how to configure your own BYO device.
If you wish to use a NBN phone plan with your BYO device, it is important that your device supports VOIP services.
If you are unsure whether your modem will work at your property, or want to enquire about purchasing one of our pre-configured, "plug-and-play" modems that is ready to go, contact our friendly support team today.
